How do I found what digital TV reception I get in my area?
|
|
The number of Digital TV channels varies
greatly with in each local area, so it is best to look up your available
channels by visiting special websites, such as:
http://www.titantv.com
http://www.antennaweb.org
http://www.tvguide.com
In addition, you can also find excellent local information from performing
searches on the internet. Due to the proliferation of DTV channels, it is
difficult to get the latest information from newspapers or other printed
sources. In addition, the number of channels you receive depends on your
physical location, your antenna and the location of the broadcast antenna.
Broadcast television signals are line of sight , which means the best
signals are received by pointing directly at transmitter. Buildings,
mountains and other obstructions will affect the quality of the signal you
receive.

|
Poor video quality (Mosaic) or flickering? |
It's a result of a poor broadcast signal.
1. Try to rotate the antenna to a difference direction.
2. Refer above question to check the digital TV reception in your area.
Not all broadcasters are
currently broadcasting a digital signal and the source of the digital signal
may move at any time. Go to
www.antennaweb.org or contact
your local broadcaster to find out which channels in your area are
broadcasting a digital signal.
If you are not able to receive a digital TV signal for any of your local
channels and you see "No Signal" message on your screen, it is possible that
you do not have the correct over-the-air antenna to receive a digital signal
or are out of range for digital broadcasts. Go to
www.antennaweb.org for more information on which over-the-air
antenna is best for your area or visit your nearest electronics retailer.
If you are not able to receive a digital TV signal for some of your local
channels you may simply need to adjust your over-the-air antenna or get an
over-the-air antenna that is optimized for your area. Go to
www.antennaweb.org for more information on which over-the-air
antenna is correct for your area or visit our nearest electronics retailer.

What is
composite output (RCA
connector)? |
Composite output is the format of an
analog television (picture only) signal before it is
combined with a sound signal and modulated onto an RF
carrier. Composite video
is often designated by the CVBS acronym, meaning any of
"Color, Video, Blank and Sync", "Composite Video Baseband
Signal", "Composite Video Burst Signal", or "Composite Video
with Burst and Sync".
It is usually in a standard format such as
NTSC,
PAL, or
SECAM. It is a
composite of three source signals called Y, U and V
(together referred to as
YUV) with sync pulses. Y represents the brightness or
luminance
of the picture and includes synchronizing pulses, so that by
itself it could be displayed as a monochrome picture. U and
V between them carry the color information. They are first
mixed with two orthogonal phases of a color carrier signal
to form a signal called the
chrominance.
Y and UV are then combined. Since Y is a
base band signal
and UV has been mixed with a carrier, this addition is
equivalent to
frequency-division multiplexing.

It takes a while to display picture on the screen after turning power on or
after changing channel. |
|
It will take several seconds for this receiver to show
the logo or picture after power on since the system have to finished the
initialization of the main chip and demodulator. In case of digital
broadcasting, it could take 1 to 2 seconds to receive data. Therefore, it is

Do I need an antenna to receive free Digital television signals? |
|
Yes. Digital TV is just like old-fashioned Analog TV,
only better. You still need an antenna to get the signal. Just about any
antenna will do, but an antenna designed for Digital TV is better. While
some antennas are better than others, it also depends on where you live.

|

Yes, but it may not give you the best results. Most
likely, your existing antenna was designed for analog television and is not
designed specifically for digital television.

What's an "analog
pass-through" converter box? |
On the market today there are dozens of
converter boxes that convert digital signals into analog so
that older television sets can continue receiving TV
reception.But many of
these boxes do not allow analog signals to pass through
their components. Therefore, if you attempt to watch both
analog programming on your TV set, you would have to unplug
the converter box to receive the analog signals.
An "analog pass-through"
converter box allows analog signals to pass through your box
and into your television set. All you have to do is turn the
box off and use your TV remote, and you can continue to
watch analog programming on your TV set.
Without an "analog
pass-through" converter box, viewers will need to purchase a
"splitter" and a cable to continue watching analog.
